*Last Time on Sweet Vegan Duo...*

Welcome to the first entry of my new blog.

Life is a little complicated in our world these days.

Details will come with time, but here I will add a quick recap of the last 8 years:

I (L) met him (M) when he was 19, I was 20. It was a whirlwind summer romance, complete with sunny days, starry nights and falling in love. I liked M immediately because he was tall, handsome, smart and funny. That summer, from our first date, we spent practically every day together.

What began as a summer romance, evolved into a long distance relationship. From our colleges on the east coast, we traveled to Italy, spent hours on the phone, spent school vacations together and laughed a lot.

As young love tends to do, halfway through senior year, things got tough. I was relatively sure I wanted to go to law school, and he was uncertain of anything other than he wanted to come with me. Unable to cope with the pressure of picking a future that would best for us both, we agreed to split up. I had no doubt that he was the person I wanted to marry, but at 21 years old, it just seemed too impossible that my first love would magically evolve into the happy marriage of a lifetime.

From that winter 2003 until the end of summer 2006, we kept in touch for the most part. In the winter of 2005, I moved to Europe and he moved to the Big City. He was determined to get experience working in a restaurant to open his own someday, and I was focused on doing things I'd always wanted to do.

We grew separately in our own directions and always hoped that our paths would lead us back together. When I returned to the US to stay, I spent my first day back with him. We were back together shortly thereafter, and I moved to the Big City with him after being back together for 5 months.

We got engaged after living together for 6 months and married after being engaged for 13 months. It seemed picture perfect.

And then we decided to separate after being married for 17 months. And again, I believe we will be back together soon, and it is my hope that this blog will chronicle our reconciliation and our future as a team...
